1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
This verse speaks about our calling, summons, and invitation into fellowship. In the New Testament fellowship could be held in a home, the teaching of doctrine in the temple, worship services out in the open countryside, listening to a sermon at a public gathering, contributing to the cause, doing good deeds together, developing intimate spiritual relationships, keeping company with others of like belief, philanthropy, breaking of bread with fellow Christians, or a private intimate place praying to our Heavenly Father.
The dictionary defines fellowship as a friendly association, especially with people who share one's interests.
The Holy Bible King James Version gives an example of fellowship in Acts 2:40-47
40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized, and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
In this passage the Greek pronunciation and meaning of the word fellowship, taken from Strongs Concordance is
κοινωνίᾳ(koinōnia) Strong's Greek 2842:From koinonos; partnership, i.e. participation, or intercourse, or benefaction.
How can fellowship with others benefit you? What are unusual things you have learned while fellowshipping with others? What is a fun memory that occurred while fellowshipping with others? How have your spiritual gifts been developed while fellowshipping with others? What testimony do you have that resulted from God using someone to bless you during a time of fellowship? What creative ways have you found to fellowship with others during Covid19 restrictions? What is keeping you from fellowshipping more? How can you be a blessing during your next fellowship gathering?
Hebrews 10:23-25 King James Version
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
